Water Wheel 2008 Bendigo Shiraz

- CAMPBELL MATTINSON AND GARY WALSH, THE BIG RED WINE BOOK 2010 / 2011

We’ve scratched our heads over the past couple of releases and we’re scratching our heads a little here too. This is a good red wine, but it’s not quite what it once was. Again, the alcohol reading is very high.

Obvious vanillin oak on juicy, plumy, tarry fruit flavor. Warm with alcohol through the finish, but it carries it well. A straightforward red with a leathery, raisiny aftertaste. This won’t really improve with cellaring – it’s best consumed as a youngster. Drink 2010 – 2012.
