90pts          Memsie Proprietary Red 2004
90pts          Shiraz        2003

This is a wonderful source for fine wine values from the relatively cool climate Bendigo area.

The 2004 Chardonnay (less than 12% natural alcohol) is a crisp, honeyed white, offering pear and white peach characteristics in a fresh, lively, pure style. Enjoy it over the next 1-2 years.

Also a fine value, the 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon is a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in one- and two-year-old American hogsheads. It offers a dense ruby/purple color along with medium to full body, and loads of minty black currant fruit intermixed with earth and pepper. Drink this delicious, well-balanced, pure Cabernet over the next 4-5 years.

The opulent, dense ruby/purple hued 2003 Shiraz is outrageously good. A 100% Shiraz aged in one-and two-year-old American hogsheads, this deep, full-bodied, impeccably pure, deep, hedonistic turn-on is filled with fruit. Consumers should be buying this one by the caseload.

The same can be said for the 2004 Memsie, a blend of 71% Shiraz, 22% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 7% Malbec aged in a combination of new and used American oak. Its dense ruby/purple color is followed by pure, ripe, black raspberry, blackberry, and blueberry aromas interwoven with hints of wood as well as licorice. Medium to full-bodied, with great fruit and soft tannin, it can be enjoyed over the next 2-3 years.
