Water Wheel Memsie 2007 ($11 - 13)

“Water Wheel's Bendigo reds are always bargins, never more so than this shiraz-cabernet-malbec-petit verdot blend. It has a whisper of eucalypt on the nose with blackcurrant, raspberry and spice aromas. The medium-weight palate is spicy smooth, with a hint of vanilla bean on the finish. (14.5 % alcohol; screwcap.)"

Ageing? Drink over three years-plus.

Food ideas: Lamb pasties; mildy spiced sausages.

Stockists include: David Jones, Melbourne; Nicks Wine Merchants, Doncaster.

**** (4 stars) $$$.
