Water Wheel Bendigo Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 ($18) screwcap:
I reckon they make this softer and cuddlier than they used to - or maybe it's me who's becoming soft. This tastes of blackcurrant and vanilla, malt and tar, with subtle briary notes letting you know for sure that this is a cabernet. I thought this was a bit gangly and unbalanced when I first opened it, but after 45 minutes or so it started to drink very well. If you can find it for a few dollars less, it will be a deadset steal.
