The latest Water Wheel cabernet is remarkably approachable and enjoyable for such a youngster. Most cabernets at this stage of their lives are somewhat closed and brooding with a finishing grip of astringent tannin. But this one shows distinctive blackcurrant and leafy varietal flavours balanced by enough dry tannin, but certainly not too much. Caberbet may be unfashionable at present, but wines like this Water Wheel will help herald a comeback.
